random darts estimate π before your eyes
Randomly scattering points inside a square and counting how many land inside its inscribed circle gives an estimate of π, since the ratio of the circle’s area to the square’s is π/4. The more points thrown, the closer that ratio settles toward the real value — the basic idea behind Monte Carlo methods used across science and computing.
