Dial

the road never changes. the station does.

a coast road at dusk over a car dashboard, and a radio dial across the bottom -- thumb the dial, hear four invented stations swim past the static, and watch the same road become a different evening on each one

The road ahead is one piece of geometry and it never changes: same curve, same palms coming past, same sun going down at the end of it. What the dial changes is the scoring -- four stations, each one synthesised here out of oscillators rather than played from a file, and each one arriving with its own light on the same scene. That is what a soundtrack actually does, and it is why the thing most people remember from a hundred hours of a driving game is not a mission but a station they found on the way somewhere.
