breed creatures by picking survivors — adaptation without a designer
Each generation’s traits come only from which creatures survived to breed the generation before — nobody sets a leg length directly, but selecting survivors over and over drags the population’s average toward whatever the environment currently rewards, even after that reward flips. That’s natural selection’s actual mechanism: variation, selection, inheritance, repeated, with no design step anywhere in the loop.
Concepts: evolution, selection.
