Monsoon

india breathes once a year. you’re holding the lungs.

drag the sun north and south — heat the land, drop the pressure, pull the sea in

The monsoon is not weather arriving from somewhere else. It is the Indian landmass heating faster than the ocean beside it, so its surface pressure falls, and air rushes in off the Arabian Sea to fill the gap. Move the sun north toward the Tropic of Cancer and the land heats, the pressure drops, and the wind reverses onshore, carrying rain with it. Move it back south and the land cools faster than the sea, the pressure relationship flips, and the same wind blows back out empty. One mechanism, run in both directions, once a year.
